In January 2020, Kamran (Kammy) Nawaz strengthened the IoT Horizon Software Development Team. Working alongside our Operations Director, Tom Allen, Kammy will be executing current and future projects.
In a recent virtual interview, we explored all things Kammy…
Q: What three words would you use to describe your role?
A: Challenging, Exciting, Rewarding
Q: How would you describe your day job to a child?
A: I write code, code is a language to talk to computers, I can then use that language to tell the computer what to do.
Q: What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
A: One of my biggest achievements to date is taking the plunge into Software Development and leaving my previous job as a Chauffeur. I was worried about studying and learning new skills again after being away from the classroom (I barely knew how to use a computer a couple of years ago). However, I proved to myself that with hard work and persistence anything is possible and now I learn new things every day.
Q: What is your motto or personal mantra?
A: Not Stressed, But Blessed and Food Obsessed.
Q: What is on your wish list for your next five years here?
A: The aim is to grow as a software developer, increase my knowledge in IoT and hopefully become a real asset to the company to repay them for the faith that they have shown in me.
Q: What’s the most recent app you’ve downloaded but are yet to use?
A: GoTrends,- mobile app for google trends.
Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: Firstly, (and by far the most important)…. is breakfast, I am a massive foodie!!! Secondly, knowing that when I get out of bed, I can provide for my family as this is one of the most important things in my life (besides breakfast). Lastly, knowing that I am an integral part of a company that makes people’s lives better and more efficient. These are the reasons I switch off the snooze button!
Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
A: Sleeping on the weekends
